Member of Parliament for Amasaman constituency, Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea has said his constituents must blame the Nana Addo Government for the bad nature of the roads in the Constituency.

The MPs comment follows a demonstration organized yesterday by residents of Pokuase-Mayera, a community within the Ga West Municipality on the bad nature of roads linking the community to the major business district.

According to the Member of Parliament, the previous administration had committed funds towards the construction of the said road, but upon assumption of office, the Akuffu-Addo administration placed a ban on all ongoing road projects, affecting the progress of the said road construction.

“This government is to blame for the nature of the road. The contract was awarded by the John Mahama administration but this government came and put a freeze on all contracts, and has since not made any funds available for the construction”.

Hon. Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea further endorsed the actions of the residents stating that he would have joined the demonstration if not for activities of the impending primaries that had him locked elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Municipal Chief Executive for the Ga West Municipality, Clement Wikinson has promised residents that their roads will soon be fixed, blaming the delay on some redesign works that needed to be done on the roads by the Department of Urban Roads.
