The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has rejected the request by the Alliance for Social Equity and Accountability (ASEPA) to demonstrate against the DPS concessionaire agreement and press down demands for the resignation of the persons who they believe were involved in the agreement.
According to a letter signed by the Deputy Regional Commander of Police, ASP Emmanuel Afriyie Sakyi, sighted by topnewsgh.com, the police could not grant the request of the group because it lacked men to provide security to the group on Thursday, August 22, 2019, the scheduled day of the demonstration.
“As discussed with the organizers today 19/08/2019 at the Regional Police Headquarters, the police wish to inform you that as a result of the ongoing Homowo celebration in Accra, as well as the preparation towards National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries, the command is constrained in terms of manpower to provide you with the needed security,” the statement said.
The Police further directed the group to reschedule the demonstration for any day after the second week of September.
