Wassa East NPP electoral area coordinators have called on the Western Regional Vetting Committee to allow all two aspirants contest in the upcoming primaries to be held in orphan constituencies.
The group of coordinators and Polling station executives who have petitioned the Western regional Vetting Committee says a contest is the only thing that can revive party activities in the constituency, stating that party activities have almost died off since the last election in 2016.
According to the group, the usual popular acclamation that has been the norm for the past consecutive elections was due to the inability of party faithful to express interest in contesting the seat. In the petition that was signed by over 50 electoral area coordinators and polling station executives, the petitioners called on the vetting Committee to allow party delegates decide which candidate is marketable and can win the seat.
“We are poised to partake and to ensure a healthy competition among the two aspirants and are getting impatient as to why the vetting Committee is delaying in clearing both aspirants to kick start campaign to bring life into party activities in the constituency”, it stated.
