Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Hon. Nii Okai Laryea who was defeated in the just ended primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has yesterday, handed over the Party’s Mahindra Pickup to the constituency.

According to reports from some quarters available to, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the said party car between the Member of Parliament and some members of the Executive as it was believed that he was using party assets as his personal property at the expense of the party’s operation, of which the pick-up was meant for.

Hon. Nii Okai Laryea has since 2018 refused to hand over the party’s pickup to the Chairman, Mr. Winfred Kofi Zoryiku, who has always claimed caretaker of all party assets, of which the pick-up was part.

Our sources also indicate that, the Member of Parliament’s only intention for handing over the car after his defeat is to allow the newly elected candidate of the NDC Sedem Afanyo, begins his campaign earlier.

It is still however not clear what the rift is between the outgoing Member of Parliament and the Constituency Chairman of the Party.

The car, however, was delivered by the Youth Organizer, Festus Odartey Lamptey and the Deputy Communication Officer, Addo Benjamin Armah of the party during an emergency meeting.
