Insults, Rumors mongering and character assassination have been part of our political discourse since Ghana attained independence. While some politicians have succeeded in using insults and lies to gain recognition and positions in politics, some aggrieved politicians have resorted to legal suits to seek redress on the matter in courts. Many well-meaning people in and outside Ghana who are worried about this situation are engaged on efforts to put a stop to lies, insults and character assassination in politics.

Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, who doubles as Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, has sent his congratulatory message to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate elect, Mr. Stephen Donkor who defeated his contender, Lawyer Stephen Bennieh in the just ended primaries in Bibiani.

Speaking to Kwame Kontor Boateng on Lord Fm Morning Show, said the utterances of some politicians on radio and other media outlets are not the best and did not augur well for Ghana’s young democracy. According to him, he expects that his opponents run a campaign of messages and not a campaign of insults or character assassination to gain political power. Speaking on his chances against his opponent in the general election, the Member of parliament boasted saying that his works and achievements in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai constituency are unprecedented and those are the messages that will get him re-elected as MP for next parliamentary term.

“I know my brother Stephen has done assessment which he will capitalize on to campaign professionally to explore his vision to win votes from the constituents, but trust me, my hard work speaks for itself, and l have the conviction that come 2020, the unprecedented achievement and developmental projects the Akufo Addo government has done in Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, will renew my mandate”, he boasted.
