OSP to Probe Airbus Scandal

President Akufo-Addo has instructed the Office of Special Prosecutor to collaborate with its counterparts in the United Kingdom to conduct an inquiry into bribery of some former Ghanaian top officials in the Purchase of Military Aircrafts between 2012 and 2014.

The expose which was contained in a document from the UK Serious Fraud Office suggested that in a confession by employees of the European Multinational Aerospace Corporation had promised to pay commissions of 5 million Euros to an intermediary who is said to be a close relative of a high ranking elected Ghanaian Government official to secure the deal with the country.

A statement released to the media yesterday, February 2, 2020 and signed by Director of Communication at the Presidency stated that the special is required to among other things determine the complicity or otherwise of any Ghanaian Government official involved in the said scandal and take legal action against such official.
