The Ministry of Communication will from Tomorrow 27th March, 2020 block all prank callers who will call the Emergency Contact Center number 112.
This according to the Ministry is a measure to get the Emergency system work effectively and free the lines for those in need to help get it.
In a Release issued by the Ministry’s Communication Specialist, Sandra Frimpong, access to the Emergency number has been hampered by the increasing number of prank calls received on Daily bases.
According to her, out of a total of One Million, nine hundred and two thousand , nine hundred and twenty-six (1,902,926) calls recieved between January 28, 2020 to 16th March, 2020, 99.16 percent of the calls were prank calls.
“Of this number, 1,887,125 were prank related calls with only 15,801 being real emergency related calls”, it stated.
The statement further urged Ghanaians to support the government’s drive to succeed in tge face of the Coronavirus outbreak.
