Mr. Asante Berko, Managing Director for the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has submitted his resignation to President Nana Akuffo-Addo on Wednesday, 15th April, 2020.
Mr. Asante Berko’s resignation comes after the United States’ Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a law suit against him for allegedly making payment to gain approval for a client’s power plant project from 2015 to 2016.
But the former banker at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in a statement clarified that although the US SEC had initiated proceedings against him, allegations that he bribed government officials and MPs are completely false.
Despite this, Mr. Berko has gone ahead to submit his resignation from office as MD of TOR and duly notified the Board of Directors of his decision.
His resignation according to Eugene Arhin has been duly received and accepted by the President.
