The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Amasaman has donated assorted food items to the Muslim Ummah within the constituency.
The gesture is a move by the party, to show solidarity to Muslim brothers and sisters as they embark on the Ramadan.
The NPP, led by its 2020 Parliamentary Candidate, Mr Akwasi Afrifa-Mensa, led the delegation to do the presentation, with support from Mr Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, the Ga-West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and other Constituency Executives.
Items donated include about 30 bags of rice, sugar, cartons of milk, crates of eggs, hand sanitizers and face masks.
In his address, Mr Afrifa-Mensa stated that, ‘’the NPP is, and shall continue to be the most development-oriented Government in the country and asked Muslims to keep on supporting the party.
He stated that, ‘’the time has come for the people of Amasaman to change their voting pattern and give the NPP the chance to represent them in Parliament’’.
‘’Everything points to the fact that, president Akuffo Addo shall be retained after the 2020 polls, and it will benefit the people of Amasaman to have an NPP Government, NPP MCE and an NPP parliamentarian, who will all work in synergy to bring the needed development to the constituency’’.
On his part, Chief Halifa Haidara, the Ga West Zongo Chief, who received the items on behalf of the entire Muslim Ummah, thanked the NPP for the great love and support during this period.
He used the opportunity to educate Muslims on the difference between the methyl alcohol which is used for the production of hand sanitizers and that of the ethyl alcohol.
He therefore admonished Muslims to religiously stick to the measures taken by government and health professionals to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
He again stated that, they (Muslim community) will continue to pray for the Party and Mr Afrifa-Mensa the Parliamentary candidate, for Allah to grant him his wish to lead the constituency as a Member of Parliament.
Mr Wilkinson, the MCE, who also joined the occasion with his entourage, admonished the elders to continue supporting the NPP party/government.
He said, ‘’the NPP is undertaking several developmental and social projects and programmes within the constituency and country at large and would need the support of all to bring the needed change and development we desire in our community’’.He used the opportunity to address some of the issues raised by the Chiefs present.
The parliamentary candidate, promised to donate fifty (50) bags of cements towards the building and completion of the Central Mosque project in the constituency and assured of another visit and donations before the end of the Ramadan.
