A Winneba High court has decleard Pro Vice Chancellors Election held last year as null and void, ordering that the elections be reorganized by the University authorities.
The court held that, the law applied by the University in the elections held last year was repealed and amended and could not be used in the Organisation of such an important Election as the Pro-Vice Chancellors Election.
Speaking to the media in Winneba after court ruling, the petitioner, Dr. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku expressed satisfaction at the ruling stating that his only interest was to ensure that rule of law operates in the administration of a high leveled Academic institution like a University, a place which must be the beacon of best management practices and rule of law.
“As the presiding judge said, this is supposed to serve as a detterent to persons in high office to always operate within the Remits of the law”.
Lawyer for the plaintiff and Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency also expressed appreciation verdict granted his client stating that the rullimg must serve as a reminder to Afful-Broni and Osei Berima.
“Today’s ruling of the court will serve as areference point for cases in many other jurisdiction that you and I do not know. My client has lost more that the 5000 cedis cost awarded him, and that cannot compensate him but symbolically i shows that the University was wrong”.
