Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians not to be fools and be deceived by anyone coming to them the second time to ask for their vote. In a tweet posted on Twitter by renowned media house Joy 99.7 FM at 08:03 on 20 August, 2020, the former President is quoted to have said, “First fool is not a fool but the second fool is a big fool. Somebody can deceive you [once] but if you allow him to come and deceive you the second time, then you are a very big fool. I know Ghanaians are not fools and will not allow them to be deceived again.”
Mr. Mahama, who is the flag bearer of the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress, is seeking to be elected by Ghanaians a second time after he was rejected overwhelmingly by Ghanaians in the 2016 presidential elections. Without any policy or programmes for the Ghanaian people, the former President is going around the country making promises that he intends not to keep.
Immediately after this tweet went viral, Ghanaians took to social media to thank the former President for his advice, stating that Ghanaians are not fools and will not be deceived to vote for him again.
Meanwhile, in the last 6 hours, the hashtag #ChoboMahama has been trending. Most of the comments are directed at the former President as Ghanaians lambast him for taking kickbacks from the various inflated contracts awarded during his tenure as President.
