The Ministry of Food and Agricultural with Agritop Limited has donated fresh vegetables to Ministry of Zongo and Inner Cities for distribution to the Osu Community today.
The donation follows a pilot of Green House Villages and plantion programs done with vegetables over the last two years.
According to Hon. George Oduro, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, said many of such yields from the farms have been supplied to big markets and have now decided to go into the small markets. In his words to the Media, he explained that they intend rolling it out step by step til they cover every region in the country. He also added that similar donations will be made to other Ministries.
As a way of introducing the products onto the markets, the piloted produce from the farms is being distributed to inner Cities to have a taste and compare to vegetables already on the market.
The Deputy Minister also added that Ghanaian should not be surprised if they see such products on the market since they will be producing more vegetables to the market.
General Manager of Agritop Limited, Ofei Tamir explained that today’s activity is to give Ghanaians to know how great the Agriculture sector is doing in Ghana, further promising that his company will continue to Implore technology to improve on Agriculture.
“This tomatoes you see may look normal but if you test it you will see that there is a difference between this one and the one on the Market”, he said.
The Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Honorable Mustapha Hamid who received vegetables on behalf of the Ministry expressed appreciation to the President, the Agriculture Ministry and Agritop for their kind gesture.
