Prof. Jane is Not Wrong for Taking Salary and Seeking Contract renewal – Prof. Oduro

The immediate past Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. George K. T. Oduro has jumped to the defense of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, running mate of the National Democratic Congress on her letter for renewal of contract.

I his defense, he accused Captain Smart as either being ignorant of the University system or trying to implement a hidden agenda.

Professor Oduro stated that the NDC Running has done nothing wrong in seeking for a renewal of her contract because she continues to be a lecturer of the University and has PhD students she supervises.

Justifying the payment of August and September salaries, Professor George Oduro said the Former Education Minister perfectly deserves the money paid to her because she worked for it.

“Renewal of Contracts at the University is usually based on research and publications done within a particular period. It is not automatic, and Jane has done nothing wrong for seeking for her contract to be renewed”, he said.

“As a running Mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang does not take salary from any government coffers at this time and she continues to do PhD supervision and there is nothing wrong with being paid for that”.

He also referred to Captain Smart calling on the NDC Running Mate to withdraw the letter as share ignorance, saying the University knows what is best and will act accordingly.
